"She say she want whatever she like But'cha gotta bring yo friend We can have one hell of a night"
A-Track gives the story on how this remix came about: "I was home for 2 days this past week, between WMC and the start of my European tour. Perfect timing: Kanye sent me this joint and asked me for some “good ol scratches” (verbatim). I jumped on it immediately and here we are just a few days later, it premiered on Hot 97. This is a really low res radio rip but I like it because hey, I get plenty of shout outs! Thanks DJ Enuff." But offerings of Martin Louis The King, I offer you the CDQ.
I can't lie. My anxiousness for the Blueprint 3 kinda died out somewhere along the way. Not sure whats going on with hip-hop right now (IT SUCKS!) but I need SOMETHING. This song was something like a 99 cent 4 piece nugget at Wendy's... just a lil snack.
A soulful, young, indie artist on the come up:EBRAHIM. No unique story for him. He's just a talented lover of music, who's waiting on his turn. Obviously a very talented True artist who has mastered 12 instruments. Skimming through his songs, I Honestly could not find One I did not like. He's got a gift, and a passion to perfect his craft. I can appreciate that. Take the time to check out his Myspace, and LISTEN to his music. My personal favorite songs: "Irrelevant" & "Family Tree"
Freddie Hubbard was an American jazz trumpeter. He was known primarily for playing in the bebop, hard bop, and post bop styles from the early 60s and on. His unmistakable and influential tone contributed to new perspectives for modern jazz and bebop. He also won a Grammy in 1972 for best jazz performance by a group for the album “First Light.” On December 29, 2008, Hubbard's hometown newspaper, The Indianapolis Star reported that Hubbard died in Southern Oaks, California from complications from a heart attack suffered on November 26th of that same year.
My critique of what makes a good or bad movie is habitually based on the music in the movie. I feel as though it can make it or break it, because great music conveys and increases a certain emotion. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is a favorite movie of mine mostly because of the mood of the music and the emotion from the actors is Spot ON. And again, in THIS, Jay did a perfect job of matching his attitude with the mood rendered from Jon Brion's soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This was a free release made available on a his Myspace page back in 2007. It is 15 continuous minutes of music, without drums, and there are five segments, marked by changes in music and mood. The occasional snippets of sampled dialogue are from the movie “Turtles Can Fly” (the children arguing in Farsi), and Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. The first segment is comprised of spoken word by Just Blaze and Erykah Badu describing the first time she met Jay.
Four albums deep into a career with no Top Ten pop singles to his name, Musiq put alot on the line with his latest single released, “Radio”. Which sounded suspiciously like some of that snap music that was goin down some years ago. Hmmm… not a good first sign. I believe we are now in a progressive state of music, since that is the only thing that survives. But this “Radio” single was a wee-bit out of character. Even though it’s the last song on the cd (But the first single tho?? That’ll hurt record sales FAsure.), everything before it sounds like the usual line-up for this dude. A couple of GREAT Love Ballads, and then some mediocre bluesy shit (NO DIS. I’mma Beat Head!!! and Musiq has a way with words… we just don’t see eye 2 eye.) But overall the cd has some ear-caressing tracks that blends old-school soul fervor with new-school hip-hop tempos. The gist of Onmyradio: something that would get played a couple times the first week I owned it, and after said week, it would only get played upon request. But it Really isn't THAT Bad. There just isn't any evolution with his music. You will get bored of it quickly, because it all sounds too similar to his other cd's.
Sometimes I'll be listening to different "mix"tapes, and they actually do a lil scratchin or some nice blends, and I THINK to myself.. "I could do that!" But after listening to THIS mixtape done by the FINGERBANGERZ clique I said to myself, "I WANT TO DO THAT!"
When they aren’t touring around with the Jabbawockeez, tag teaming with a guy named Z-Trip, or yukin’ it up with Carlos Mencia the FINGERBANGERZ are holding down San Jose and the Bay all-day and they make the most noise at their signature bi-monthly party MUSIC MACHINE!
With 10+ years in the DJ/production game, these dudes are as versatile as they come. From rocking house parties and high school dances in their teens, to battling in ITF, DMC, and rockin parties all around the continent in their 20s, they have been tested in the arena and they are taking names!
Fingerbangerz is a team of two DJs, and each DJ has his own style and approach to the crowd. If you're ever in San Jose on a 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, it sounds like a nice lil attraction.
The Sky High Mixtape is a Kanye Remix Project. It mostly consist of Electronic beat blends and DJ mixes... but its dissonance is appealing. But most definitely something for the club.
"All the streetlights glowin Happen to be just like moments passin in front of me. So I hopped in the cab, and I paid my fair.See I know my destination, and I'm just not there."
"Act like ya know when ya see the dodge vipe I slide through quicka than a credit card swipe TEXT BOOK STACKS get the school broads hype I Tanya Hardin' hoes / Hittem with the hard pipe" <DOWNLOAD>
Not only does Barack Obama get elected for President of my United States of America, but Q-Tip has graced us with some of his genius.
Jonathan Davis aka: Kamall Fareed aka Q-Tip AKA THE ABSTRACT: Although this is his “sophmore” solo joint, this is actually the 4th solo album in 9 years, because 2 of these were never released by his label due to rejection (“Open” & “Kamaal The Abstract”), BUT I feel as though The Renaissance was right on time. This album was his first for his new label Universal Motown.
In the 90s, he helped gear Hip-Hop in a new direction that embraced the smoothness of jazz and a wider musical pallet with A Tribe Called (Me). Which influenced the modern day Hipsters, such as Kanye. And I am more than impressed to see Q return in the midst of another phase of music (that I believe is being lead by such artists like Mr. Williams, Mr. Fiasco, & “Mr. West! Mr. West! By himself, he’s so impressed. You got D’z muhfucka! D’z!! Rosie Perez!”), and again, leave his footprint on Hip-Hop’s time line.
The Renaissance features artists such as Amanda Diva, Raphael Saadiq, Norah (MUHFUCKIN) Jones, & D'Angelo. 3 or which, I am a Huge fan of. Raphael, Norah, & D'Angelo are all individually melodically cool as shit. The funksters came through with their pixy sticks and added their own lil flavor to the tracks they're on. I wasn’t formerly familiar with Ms. Diva, but I like her style, even though her voice reminds me of someone…
When doing some early track searching for The Renaissance, I was fooled into thinking the album was called Live @ The Renaissance. This may be a real album name overseas, because it has a 10 songs that were not listed on The Renaissance that was released in the states on the 4th. Perhaps there will be a deluxe edition. Cross your fingers boys and girls.
