If you heard this song when it was first leaked, you wouldn't be surprised that Jay is in the video. (*Shall I Break It Down!?) I'mma break it down... This song was one of the earlier leaked songs from BP3 in the first quarter of this year. In June, I heard the remix of this song, which was Then FEATURING Fabolous, who dropped a nice verse. But NOW, the song has become Fabolous', featuring Hov... interestiiing. That's one thing we are strangely kept in the dark about as fans. We listen to songs, and automatically assume that these are original cuts from our favorite artists. But that's quite on the contrary! The music industry is very political, and these songs are passed from artist to artist, and some have been completely duplicated. (*For example: Sterling Simms wrote, and recorded a hand-full of BANGERZ last year. THEN, Lloyd [a more well known artist] needs songs to finish "Lessons in Love", next thing you know, all those cuts were re-recorded the EXACT same way Sterling Simms cut them. So, most people have still Yet to know WHO STERLING SIMMS IS... "The Future!")
With that said, back to the video... I am not a fan of rap videos. They're copy-n-pasted concepts the have been recycled for more than a decade now. BUT, with the Hova cameo, and the simple, yet Real concept to this video... I dig it. One day you're "Living The Life", but if your foundation is soft and white, the Feds WILL come and chop that shit up and make you disappear!

My personal opinion of this movie before seeing the trailer, "...why are the hipsters so excited about this?? it WAS a great book, but... why are the 'Cool Kids' all excited? seems like a gimick!"
With that said, I saw the "Making of: 'Where The Wild Things Are'", and I ALREADY know, this movie is going to be great. I guarantee, if you love GOOD movies, you will LOVE this movie.
I consider GOOD movies to be the ones that are different. Watching the same ol thing with a new title, but the same premise is BORING. This movie with not be boring. It's more than a movie. It pushes the limits on what is a "children's movie." Its a creation. It IS motion art.

These street productions are hand painted using regular car spray paint.
Keith’s work challenges the perception and conception within a modern consumerist society often using religious and military imagery. The red and blue 3D lenses represent the need to see with a greater clarity and enhanced perspective. “My work is a critique of commodity as a religion and how religion and money are the principal conspirators of war”. The built up textures from the application of car spray paint are reminiscent of old black and white grained film. They say you can visually feel and smell it which enhances the sensual tones of his nude figures. The exhibition 'Artillery For Pleasure' featured large scale monochrome photo realist paintings.

A Palm Beach County woman told police she crashed her car into her boyfriend's truck to prevent him from driving drunk.

Swine Flu Vs. the flu...

All this "swine-flu" chaos has been bugging me. After finding out, "What IS the Swine Flu?", I still had questions that needed to be answered. There had been no confirmed deaths in the United States related to swine flu as of Tuesday afternoon. But another virus had killed thousands of people since January and is expected to keep killing hundreds of people every week for the rest of the year. People are nervous about swine flu, but the regular flu kills 36,000 people a year in the United States. Soooo, why are schools closing down, and hand sanitizer selling out?! It didn't take very much research to realize, the media is blowing this whole thing wa---y out of proportion.
An outbreak of swine flu that is suspected in more than 150 deaths in Mexico and has sickened dozens of people in the United States and elsewhere has grabbed the attention of the public and of medical officials worried the strain will continue to mutate and spread. Experts are nervous that, as a new strain, the swine flu will be harder to stop because there aren't any vaccines to fight it. But even if there are swine-flu deaths outside Mexico (and medical experts say there very well may be) the virus would have a long way to go to match the roughly 36,000 deaths that seasonal influenza causes in the United States each year.
So Chi----ll!! You're more likely to die from getting your Flu shot, than you are from the Swine-flu. (That is a fact.)

The looks are fairly simple, yet Yohan Serfaty has managed to put together quite a fancy little collection here. The leathers look great, but a bit too much for the spring season I'm use to... the jackets and blazers are fly as hell too. Great use of textures and layering. Its not too much, it simply accentuates the quality of the line, because it's trendy & savvy, and not overloaded. Some of us are lucky enough to be great at a few things, but This renaissance man they call Swizz Beatz is truly a jack of all trades. Swizz has been a master of music production since he was SIXTEEN-YEARS-OLD. (Yes, correct. When you were in middle school, high school, college... gettin gully with your friends, chanting "Stop! Drop! Shut'em down, open up shop!! The young man who produced that was in HIGH SCHOOL! Doing the samething you were doing... kinda.) Not only a producer, but also a decent rapper, with car knowledge and a collection that would make any male jealous.
Soooo... he sounds good... he rides good... and he dresses well, affiliated with KidRobot. He's a contributing artist for the clothing line (designed the logo).

From what I read, Swizz has always been a fan of art and a collector. But I was oblivious to his skillz!! His work is AMAZIN! Being a fan of Warhol, I'm not surprise to see the influences, and the piece with Jean Michel Basquiat (which is DOPE!!) And from what I understand, he debuted this new stuff over Twitter. How often does that happen. But he donates the money he earns from his paintings to the Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation.

As it turns out the recent collaboration of Kaws and Levi’s also includes a denim model with a navy teeth design and not only the red/white design (which I was not really feelin). The “Navy Teeth” Chompers design by Kaws is much more subtle, as the design is only embroidered and not printed onto the denim. Too bad the price tag isn't THAT subtle. Sitten at about $300. That's Kaws for ya!

This is the reason I love art (Not the sole reason, but the basis is here). A photographer has taken a picture of artist doing THEIR thing. It feels like a layer of Love upon a layer of Love. It's a part of compellingly-titled new show of photographs, “Spit & Peanut Shells: American Pictures” at Cincinnati, Ohio’s Country Club Gallery. Each picture is completely different, but you can see America in each.

What do people DO in between the West Coast -n- East Coast? What we do best... we put our creativity and imagination to work. We "DO WORK SON!!!" The art culture is not wholly in L.A., D.C., and N.Y.! It's in Dallas and Cincinnati as well. It's only a matter of time and a little more effort before people nation wide realize that this "art thing" is bigger than you may think. Art transcends, and it's being backed by Brilliant minds. It cannot be repressed! I suggest becoming apart of the ever increasing movement, or get left behind SUCKAAAAS!

Another tee popularized by Mr. Wayne Carter himself. The "Rock -n- Roll Star"... yeaaah. I wonder if he changed stylist when he decided to be a "Rock -n- Roll Star." Either way, the t-shirt is dope. I love the little shot of Versace in the bottom corner. [Correction: not Versace, but Karl Lagerfeld.]
Designed by Brian Lichtenberg, but sold at BLOOD IS THE NEW BLACK. The clothing retailer has a great concept of featuring t-shirts done by ARTISTS. The site also has links to all 21 artists and their websites to view their portfolios. These cats are Legit and the clothes are Official! They feel very exclusive with the 'one of a kind' look to each of them. The 'Moto Vest' tee was Lichtenberg's only piece (haha) available through BITNB, but his link is available above to view his other products.

ALIFE’s latest collection of footwear just dropped. It features three designs over two models. Some nice bright colors are utilized throughout with some strong branding. Sean Anderson (20 YEARS OLD TODAY!), deriving from Detroit, gets my vote for G.O.O.D. Music's ROOKIE of the YEAR! Without a doubt. (Also signed to Island Def Jam last year.) The first few songs I heard from young, I wasn't very impressed. His "style" or content wasn't captivating enough for me to take anymore time in checking up on his new shit. But there is something about getting to know someone, that makes you root for them. No matter what someone is promoting or selling, when you've heard their story, and you get a better view on Their vision, you can't help but want to see them succeed. And that is exactly what attracted me to BIG Sean. Its as if I had to get to know him to understand his style. And when I heard "MILLION DOLLARS", I knew this dude was official!!

There are a few songs that I would love to jump in my DeLorean and go back and watch LIVE around the time they came out. (#1 MAZE AND FRANKIE BEVERLY "WE ARE ONE"!) But I happen to peep this on the good ol' youtube, and thought about how evoking it was.

It’s a civil war that’s lasted 40 years. Passed down from son to son. But what’s at the root of this long-standing battle...? Filmmaker, Stacy Peralta try’s to find out by speaking with former and current gang members.
With this film, you’ll get a better picture on how these two gangs came about, primarily because of racism. The racist housing covenants written into leases and deeds prevented blacks, Latinos and Asians from living in white neighborhoods. Those discriminatory practices helped establish and embed the anger and segregation of minorities. So they were being separated and treated unfairly, like they were unequal; which didn’t change until 1968 when the USSC ruled that this was illegal (Fair Housing Act), but the feelings were still there.
Saying all of that still does not excuse the actions of the two parties that have caused violence and taken over 15,000 lives, wild the world stands by.
The movie wants to encompass the history behind this, and show where these gangs have come from, and where they are now. Through the struggle of doing so, the jumps from the present to the past and forward again, can dilute the historical momentum that is trying to be built up. But regardless, the General message is obvious… things need to CHANGE(.)

"The Moment"

A short award winning film that explores the moment between cause and effect.

Verena and Csaba: two ambitious animation students at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg who collaborated on animation shorts and digital crafts.
They were given an assignment to produce a trailer for the International Festival of Animated Film in Stuttgart.
Synopsis: moment of awarness and in which ways it could come to you. A car accident will definitely open your eyes and make you aware.
Currently they're working on a new 4 minute short film, which is Verenas graduation project at Filmakademie.
Now upon watching this on Kanye's blog, I was lead to believe these cats made this to the rhythm of Kayne's "Street Lights", which is above. But after further research, it's actually faster than the one above, and has another piece of music playing along. And it looks AMAZING! It took quite a bit of time to load, but when it finally did it was worth the wait.

Comme des Garcons has just released their Series 6 Synthetics line. For those that don’t know, it’s a line of perfumes that are based on several fabrics and materials, such as "Garage", "Soda", and "Dry Clean". Here’s some information that goes into a little more detail from Lucky Scent:

Gerda Steiner & Jorg Lenzlinger present: "Brainforest"

Brainforest is the name of a piece by Gerda Steiner & Jorg Lenzlinger, but I think it’s also a great way of describing the style that alot of their work has. Steiner was originally a wall painter and Lenzlinger was creating stalactite-like forms when they joined forces in 1997. The amount of detail in their large scale installations is incredible.

Brainforest is located in Kanazawa-hu's 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. People from Kanazawa (which is a ward in Yokohama, Japan) brought all of the materials together for this installation. It was sort of a community art project, directed by Steiner and Lenzlinger. Gardeners help in the search for various roots, and branches in the luscious forests. Three primary and secondary school classes made flowers out of plastic bottles and illustrated magazines. At a senior citizens' club members folded dice-shaped paper flowers, and a group involved in pressing flower petals gave them a present of birds. In the Kenrokuen Garden all the leaves are carefully swept up from the ground every day so that the moss can thrive. Art students then gild these leaves. They also gather abandoned telephone and computer cable from three different rubbish heaps. On the beach they found pieces of polystyrene, bits of nets, string and rope, and plastic of all kinds. And all of this was brought together to create something colorfully alluring.

Halo refers to the official color scheme on the shoe, which is Halo/Zitron, but I would argue that it’s the six different colors on the upper of this sneaker and a gum outer sole that actually bring all the colors together. On December 29, 2008, Hubbard's hometown newspaper, The Indianapolis Star reported that Hubbard died in Southern Oaks, California from complications from a heart attack suffered on November 26th of that same year.

There is beauty in every good photograph. Whether that beauty stems from joy, pain, or simplicity, a great picture can capture it. How can you not appreciate that?

When you can look at a picture, and it can take you from where you are, and put you there, in That place and you can Feel everything in that picture… that’s a good picture. I feel like Andreas can do this very well. Going thru Brooklyn and finding a real essence within it, and being able to make it easy to FEEL probably wasn’t as easy as you may think.

DON'T TALK DURING THE MOVIE!

A South Philly native (James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29) is being charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations after shooting a man (WHO WAS WITH HIS SON!) in the movies on Christmas Day.
According to the police, James was upset by them talking during the movie. He apparently tried to quiet the family (who were sitting in front of him) by the old "shhh" method followed by telling them to be quiet. When that didn’t work, he reverted to throwing popcorn at the son! At that time the father got up to protect them, and that's when the victim was shot once in the arm. After shooting the man, James sat back down to finish watching the movie...? Philly ain't no joke!

Quick run down of who these silly officials are: Trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry. They oppose unauthorized file sharing of its music. THAT'S RIGHT... they SUE you for $750 PER SONG you illegally share (knowingly or unintentionally). But at the beginning of this new year, they kicked off their new policy: instead of suing people who cant even afford a cd, they will now contact your internet company, and have your internet suspended. The RIAA has recently sued a defenseless 19-year-old girl, who is CHRONICALLY ILL, for $8000! She had TEN songs. TEN SONGS!!?

Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson, better known as Lykke Li, is a Swedish indie pop/alternative singer.
She released her first album, Youth Novels on LL Recordings in the U.S. in May. The album was produced by Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John, and Lasse Marten.
You can tell she has a different aura about herself. Feels as though it comes from deep within. It could stem from her artsy background; mother's a photographer & her father is a musician, who was kind of a big deal in Sweden. Don't sleep on the Swedish artists! They're doing something right.

AKA: (What the F••• is a) JAY ELECTRONICA!

My critique of what makes a good or bad movie is habitually based on the music in the movie. I feel as though it can make it or break it, because great music conveys and increases a certain emotion. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is a favorite movie of mine mostly because of the mood of the music and the emotion from the actors is Spot ON. And again, in THIS, Jay did a perfect job of matching his attitude with the mood rendered from Jon Brion's soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
This was a free release made available on a his Myspace page back in 2007. It is 15 continuous minutes of music, without drums, and there are five segments, marked by changes in music and mood. The occasional snippets of sampled dialogue are from the movie “Turtles Can Fly” (the children arguing in Farsi), and Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. The first segment is comprised of spoken word by Just Blaze and Erykah Badu describing the first time she met Jay.

I believe in expanding your horizons, because if you have a narrow view on the horizon, you’ll miss the majority of beautiful things on the come up (Mmm… Let it marinate. Might’ve gone over ya head ;) But the point of me saying that is… I will continue to listen to new genres of music in hopes of finding other great new songs, and artists; because honestly, I get bored of rap/hip-hop.

A few things:

•This grading system. Don’t take it personally. Just because I gave Your favorite song a (C+) doesn’t mean I thought it was wack. If I put it on the list, I ALREADY like it. How much do I like it…? FYI: Why are they necessitating an update to digital cable??

To convert analog versions of channels to digital. Each analog channel takes up 38mbs of bandwidth. [Grasp This: CSPAN takes up more bandwidth than you have available to you for internet services.]
For Basic Cable subscribers that get about 40 analog channels. Those households are consuming 40 x 38.6mbs or 1.54 Gbs. I was blown away when I found out that's more bandwidth than most neighborhoods consume online, by a lot.
Thats also the equivalent of 500 standard def digital channels. If you convert that to revenue per bit for cable companies, the basic cable customers are getting the best deal! The standard def digital version of the same channel takes up less than 3mbs. The typical HD version takes up about 8mbs or less. So, every time a channel is converted from analog to digital a MINIMUM of 28mbs is freed up. The bandwidth that is freed up can be used for: more internet bandwidth, to more HD channels, more video on demand... More bandwidth means more digital everything. The cable companies have been hesitant to convert them only because of the potential FCC backlash. The FCC made this an issue because it does reduce the number of channels available to those who connect their cable to older televisions sets, or directly to their analog TVs.
[Side Note: Some people don’t realize that analog could send a better-looking picture to your television set, but with an analog signal, you adopt noise. Not the type of noise that you can hear. This noise is simply a term used to describe a disturbance that interferes with the normal operation of a device or system. So the more you crank up this analog signal, the more noise you will get.]

So which is more important, protecting analog TV connectivity, or having more bandwidth available?

Obviously I’m pro-digital! Lets free up this bandwidth, because I think broadband should be a priority in this country. It not only equates to faster internet service, but it will open up many new applications that can significantly impact our society. All of which are far more important than making sure that an old analog TV can receive a few more basic cable tv channels. Otherwise, what is next, stopping Youtube and other video sites from increasing the bit rate of videos because those with dialup will be forced to upgrade?

Musiq: OnMyRadio

Four albums deep into a career with no Top Ten pop singles to his name, Musiq put alot on the line with his latest single released, “Radio”. Which sounded suspiciously like some of that snap music that was goin down some years ago. Hmmm… not a good first sign. I believe we are now in a progressive state of music, since that is the only thing that survives. But this “Radio” single was a wee-bit out of character. Even though it’s the last song on the cd (But the first single tho?? That’ll hurt record sales FAsure.), everything before it sounds like the usual line-up for this dude. A couple of GREAT Love Ballads, and then some mediocre bluesy shit (NO DIS. I’mma Beat Head!!! and Musiq has a way with words… we just don’t see eye 2 eye.) But overall the cd has some ear-caressing tracks that blends old-school soul fervor with new-school hip-hop tempos.
The gist of Onmyradio: something that would get played a couple times the first week I owned it, and after said week, it would only get played upon request. But it Really isn't THAT Bad. There just isn't any evolution with his music. You will get bored of it quickly, because it all sounds too similar to his other cd's.

Or even by going to the doctor sooner, but if you would’ve done what you heard that guy say That One Time in that commercial, Or listened to the speeches you’ve heard, or paid attention to December the First… or would you not believe what all these people tried to tell you, and continue to put yourself at risk simply for self indulgence…?

I was inclined to re-up my knowledge on HIV/AIDS a few days ago when I found out that the rate for African American women 18 – 25 INCREASED FORTY PERCENT in Dallas and surrounding areas. So for those of you who believe that, because you may not hear about it as much as you once did, or “technology is evolving everyday, so I’m sure they’ve made advancements in the prevention of HIV and AIDS!” mmmm… Nah. Not so much.
Although the research is being done, and advancements are being made, our carelessness is invalidating any progression that has been made on the technical side. To think this is a contained problem within AFRICA, homosexuals, or particular regions of the U.S., your idea of HIV/AIDS is thoroughly misconstrued.

Of all racial and ethnic groups in the United States, HIV/AIDS has hit African Americans the hardest. The reasons are a little distorted, but rather to some of the barriers faced by alot of African Americans. These obstacles include being financially disabled, and negative attitudes, beliefs, and actions directed at people living with HIV/AIDS or directed at people who do things that might put them at risk for HIV.

We have the shortest survival times amongst AIDS patients, and it is Our leading cause of death. If anything else, this is nothing but fuel to My Fire for my campaign: KEEPING YA NUMBERS DOWN! “Respect Yaself!” (Limit your number of partners.) Sex is a beautiful thing that should be had… multiple times a day if you got it like that :) But the more partners you have, the more you increase your risk of catching an STD(.)

Large kinetic sculptures that resemble skeletons are able to walk using the wind on the beaches of the Netherlands.
Theo Jansen, who was born in the Netherlands; and is an artist & an inventor, creates the artificial life.
His “New Nature” is created with the use of algorithms (method of precise instructions made to produce a task) that imitate evolution within these codes. These codes don’t always produce a definite result, so the reaction could be random. But the algorithms are used to solve a range of problems that can come up, including malfunctions with the artwork.

The skeletons, which are able to walk on the wind, are all put together by plastic electrical conduit. The main focus for the algorithms is to help the creations survive on the beach against nature. They are “programmed” to survive on the beach while moving around within two lines: the wet sand near the ocean and the dry sand at the edge of the beach. And over time, these skeletons have become better-n-better at surviving the elements (storms and waves), and eventually Jansen’s goal is to have HERDS of these creations on the beaches.

Roadsworth began painting the streets of Montreal in the fall of 2001. Initially motivated by a desire for more bike paths in the city and being a cyclist himself, he wanted to shine a light on the positive effects of alternate transportation. Politicians have been encouraging us for years to adopt unconventional modes of transportation as a palliative to the problems associated with smog and green house gasses, because he had something like an anti-car obsession. He continued to build a buzz around town with his street markings and other elements of the urban landscape using a primarily stencil based technique.

Around 4AM on NOVEMBER 29TH 2004 [FOUR YEARS AGO TODAY], Roadsworth was arrested by the Montreal Police after being caught spray painting a Christmas ribbon at a popular intersection. With all of his nocturnal projects, he was charged with 53 counts of mischief. Despite the threat of heavy fines and a criminal record he received a relatively lenient sentence which he attributes in part to the public support he received subsequent to his arrest.

The news of his arrest acquired a certain amount of public support, and what some might describe as “free publicity”. Chris Hand of Zeke‘s Gallery launched the first, and perhaps most significant "Save Roadsworth" campaign on his blog. [Thank God for the Bloggers! HAha]
Since that time, Roadsworth has received various commissions for his work and continues to be active in both visual art and music.

“To express oneself outside of the "accepted" context however is to risk a certain amount of criticism. After all, who am I to impose my opinions on others? I don‘t pretend to have answers for anything and the complexity of the world is beyond the scope of my understanding but I still believe that I have the right to ask "Who are you to push hamburgers on me?" or "Who are you to pollute my air?" or “Who are you to tell me to go to war?" Despite my cynicism, I feel that whether motivated through a sense of self-preservation or that of future generations, there is nevertheless a growing recognition that an industrial-age mentality is no longer adequate to the challenges that humanity is faced with. Though maybe not purely altruistic, there is an awareness that the interest of others could also be in ones own interest. Big words for a vandal.”

Mmm… I take that back. His right hand man Dame Dash is talkin reckless, and Mr. Jones is just riding along with it for now. “Controversy sells”? Naah. Embroilment and petty (fake ass) quarrels are a diminishing trend amongst REAL artists.

Any kid with the Graduation knows that’s a Damn Lie DAME. But I think we all have a special place in our hearts for Mister Dash, so we’ll let it slide… just this once. Because Dame is a smart cat, and when it comes to the music biz, building a brand, and tapping into different demographics this is That Dude you need on your team. And Dame's role this time around is to turn Jim Jones into a brand. They’ve begun by the marketing of Jim’s latest album “Pray IV Reign”. And they’ve expanded this album into a play: The “Hip-Hop Monologues”. Infused with a live band, rap and rhymes highlighting Jones's chaotic life coming up in Harlem, the play puts a new spin and breaks the monotony of typical album release parties.
Along with a hand full of acting gigs and even a spot on the Starz show, “Crash”, in 2009 Jonesy is dropping his cd on January 20th (Previously dated for December 9th, but Jay-Z & 50 are both dropping there new shit that day, sooooo… YEAH.). His collaboration single “Pop Champagne” with Ron Browz, who helped with the production of the album, and his partner in crime JUELZ SANTANA. The single is gettin bumped in jeeps n clubs all over America!
Pray IV Reign is Jim’s 4th solo joint, but 1st after signing to Columbia Records. It was originally called Back 2 Back, but no news on why the change of heart. Some guests on the cd include, 50 (WHYYY!?!), Tony Yayo (Lame!), Wayne, Luda, & N.O.E. Yes, Of Course Byrd Gang will be All Over It.
The joint with N.O.E., “The Good Shit” (its aiiiight), has been out since JULY. I guess they threw that one out there a wee-bit too early.

I only hope that with these appealing freestyles that have been coming out lately, that Jimmy is prepping our pallets for a different flavor this time around.

When they aren’t touring around with the Jabbawockeez, tag teaming with a guy named Z-Trip, or yukin’ it up with Carlos Mencia the FINGERBANGERZ are holding down San Jose and the Bay all-day and they make the most noise at their signature bi-monthly party MUSIC MACHINE!

With 10+ years in the DJ/production game, these dudes are as versatile as they come. From rocking house parties and high school dances in their teens, to battling in ITF, DMC, and rockin parties all around the continent in their 20s, they have been tested in the arena and they are taking names!

Fingerbangerz is a team of two DJs, and each DJ has his own style and approach to the crowd. If you're ever in San Jose on a 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, it sounds like a nice lil attraction.

Their choice of songs and artists is so multifaceted that its shocking.
